In this conversation-styled interview, Dan McFadyen sits down with Ryan O'Hare, CEO and Founder of Keypath Education Australia and Asia-Pacific where they discuss how to get ahead in Higher Education and how digital strategies, skills-based learning, and learner-centricity are key.
Some of the topics covered include:
What higher education is doing well and why digital strategy, systems interoperability, integrated data, and lifelong learning will rule in 2023
Learners have already shifted from traditional qualifications to skills-based learning - and the majority are lifelong learners / earners, not young adults
Higher education needs to challenge long-held assumptions around who learners are, cohort segments, learning preference and industry alignment
Why you should stop doing pilots and start committing instead - going all in can mean the difference between success and failure
Higher education changes in the foreseeable future - A learner-centric vision
NEWS: Edalex an Inaugural Member of the XCredit Skills Validation Network by Education Design Lab
We are thrilled to be one of only 14 inaugural members of the XCredit Skills Validation Network, launched recently by Education Design Lab, which aims to empower STARs (individuals Skilled Through Alternate Routes) with valuable labour market currency. Together with other Network members, we will collaborate in prototyping new skills validation tools and methods and provide thought leadership to drive outcomes across the skills-based ecosystem. "We’re particularly interested in the prototype model, and where our Credentialate and openRSD platforms can add value,” said Edalex Managing Director Dan McFadyen.

An international research project was conducted in 2022 as part of the EdTech Innovation Alliance Program, funded by the Victorian Government in Australia. The collaborative cross-sector project partners comprised University of Melbourne, University of Dayton, Education Design Lab and Edalex with research outcomes that can be used to inform policy around skill transparency, Personal Evidence Records and their benefits.
An innovative Digital Learner Profile solution will be showcased, that helps create visibility across the learning journey for all stakeholders. Using open data standards, the complex solution produces a dynamic personal evidence record and digital badge, aligned to national standards and school-based frameworks. Progress towards mastery (including artefacts) are displayed in student dashboards and saved in a digital wallet.
